Midland Walkie-Talkies
The Midland 2-Way Radio set is on our most vital equipment list.
Most often we use these lightweight hand-held radios or walkie-talkies to park the Airstream in a camp spot.
There’s no need to announce our arrival by hollering directions at each other, creating a disturbance for man and beast. We just calmly and quietly speak into the walkie-talkie while the other spots obstacles outside and the driver very slowly places the trailer. So far, we’ve had no run-ins with electrical towers, fences, hanging tree limbs, etc.
In addition, these radios are vital when we are in an area with no cell service, such as national parks. It is so important to communicate with your traveling partner at all times when in wilderness areas. When we separate to walk Pico, or drive away to deposit trash, or go shopping – and especially whenever I go paddling alone – we always pack the radio.
Charged and ready at all times, we cannot imagine trying to manage without these radios – and that’s because we can’t manage without each other.
