“Next steps” time has arrived, as scheduled.
One year ago this week, we were on our maiden voyage to San Diego with Beauty and The Beast.
We towed the Airstream and Ram 2500 Laramie from lower Mississippi state to Chula Vista, California in a leisurely 10 day journey.

Since then, we have sold, gifted or donated every possession that cannot serve our mission to travel as far and as wide as possible in our truck and trailer until we are unable or unwilling to drive another mile.
My dad, Allen Perry has joined us here at The Chula Vista RV Park and Marina on a “Tying Up Loose Ends” mission.
He traveled here from Mississippi in his “Roll Tide” truck to haul home a few family portraits, audio equipment and my beloved tricycle. Thanks, Daddy. your support for our journey is a precious gift. (Click here for a February 2017 update on those possessions after a fire)

Special thanks this week goes also to Pete’s Precision Automotive for their care and concern for our automobile maintenance over many years. The commute is sweet when you go to Pete’s.

Over these last few months, our friends and followers have shared personal messages with inspiring words, poems and songs ranging in tone from Tennyson to Cash.
We would like to cite these gems here from time-to-time, and this week we begin with Something To Be Said, a song by Shelby Lynne from her album, Tears Lies and Alibis.
We are standing before the threshold of a new and wondrous beginning. Thank you for joining us.
Let the journey begin!

Congratulations on your story about Jim’s history. I knew him at SDCMS for a number of years. I never knew of his other accomplishments. I salute him.
Tom, you were always one of my favorite Medical Society Executive Directors. Hope we meet again someday on the road.
What a career(s), we’re looking forward to seeing both of you (finally), later this year. Happy travels!
Larry, we are looking forward to meeting you when we swing by Alabama. Our Airstream, Beauty, will right at home at her old stompin’ grounds.
Congratulations and Happy travels! Maybe we will run into each other in a campground somewhere across this beautiful country!
Lance, I miss those days at the California Medical Association working with you. Yes, I do hope our paths cross someday on the road.
I started kindergarten with Jim at Ira Harbison and went through high school with him. Jim has always been a special person. Congratulations on his career accomplishments, retirement, and 41 years of marriage. I’ve been enjoying your posts about your planning and look forward to reading about your adventures. Be safe and enjoy the adventure.
John, I do remember all our years at Ira Harbison. Great memories!
So happy for you two. You crossed another finish line.
As long as we’re sharing road music, may I suggest Robert Earl King’s “Ride”.
I think you’ll find it appropriate.
Bill, we listened to “Ride” by Robert Earl King. We liked it!
Love me some Robert Earl Keen!!!

WIshing you the best. Hope to meet you some day down the road. If you are ever in Little Rock, AR, you are most welcome.

Loved watching the film clips! I had no idea how rich and varied Jim’s accomplishments are.
Lori, glad you enjoyed the film clips. Hard to believe they were filmed over 35 years ago.
After reading your resume aren’t you going to be bored full timing?
Kelvin, I hope to use my CFO skills to track travel statistics and data. That should keep be busy. That along with this blog.
After receiving your email telling us of your retirement, I immediately went to your blog and read each and every word of all your posts. I am signed up! We will keep you both in our prayers. May the roads you travel be filled with beauty, friendship, safety, and God’s blessings.
With much love,
Laurie and Mike
Laurie and Mike, great to have you two as followers. Let’s get together when we are back in San Diego.
