Progressive Industries Portable RV Surge Protector – EMS-PT30X
We are serious about protecting our on-board electronics, so we bought the Progressive EMS-PT30X.
Our research turned up this highly rated surge protector and we have been using it for almost five years. And, so far, it has caught problems in over a dozen campsites (we stayed in more than 330 campgrounds) – everything from national parks to pricey private and inexpensive state campgrounds in two different countries – which could have been catastrophic if not tragic.
Here’s how it works: When we pull into a campsite with electrical service, we do not plug in until our surge protector signals us the “okay.” It only takes a couple of minutes to process and evaluate the electricity for problems such as reverse polarity, open ground, high or low voltage, power surges and voltage fluctuations. Any of these problems can damage any and all of our electronics and electrical appliances in our trailer.
This expensive piece of equipment has never been tampered with or stolen. But if we lost it, we would immediately acquire another because it protects the value of everything we own. Low voltage could destroy our air-conditioner. High voltage could fry our ice machine. Improper wiring could electrify the skin of our trailer and kill us, seriously. All of these horrible things have happened to RV campers due to bad electricity.
In cases of lightening strikes to a service power line, the surge protector would give its life before allowing a surge to damage our trailer. That’s why we use this expensive gadget. And, if it ever fails us, we will buy another one before we ever use plug-in power.
Electricity is dangerous. Plugging into an unknown source is a risk. Serious risks require serious protection.
If you have two air conditioners, you will need the 50 amp version.
